R2D: Guardians of the Otherland(World)
Here is the start of the worlds thread for Guardians of the Otherland, right now i just have maps of the two places you have been to, but more maps and information will come later.
Akadan:
Caehid:
- Map of the Otherland:
Akadan:
- Map:
Black(Plot Points):
1: Battlefield. The site of a battle between the Akadan Empire, and the Daedalian forces. The Akadan Empire suffered a crushing defeat,with only five known survivors. With the Akadan army out of the way, the Daedalian forces moved on to the capital.
2. Cave. The five survivors of the battle moved onward to see what became of thier capital, but were sent running for shelter when a sudden storm overtook them. Seeing a cave, the soldiers rushed towards it, hastily relighting the firepit and paying little mind to the crates at the back. The soldiers were surprised when three bandits came into the cave and attacked, the leader of the bandits, Ovid, killed the nameless companion, leaving only four soldiers left alive.
3. When the four soldiers decided to stop for the night, a ranger came out and announced himself. After discovering their purpose, the ranger, Migelo, joined them.
4.When the group came out of the forest, they found themselves on a hill, looking down on the faraway capital. They were relieved to find it intact, but the relief soon vanished as the Daedalian army appeared and took the city in a lightning fast attack that only magic could explain. It was here that the group had two real choices, to unite the kingdoms in a grand battle against Daedalia, or to try and slip into Daedalias capital and eliminate its leaders. They chose to unite the kingdoms and thus headed for Caehid.
White(Other locations):
1.Fairwalk forest. One of the largest forests in the realm, it was originally home to many creatures, but the third king of Akadan established the rangers to eliminate these creatures, thus freeing the forest for the building of a road to give the capital faster access to the eastern side of the realm. Nowadays, the rangers have managed to eliminate most all of the creatures, though many bandits have been known to roam the woods, vnishing when the rangers approached.
2. The Old Keep. When the land has been newly inhabited, the ancestors of what became the Akadan empire built one thing with the knowledge of their old home before following the nomadic lifestyle. That building was the old keep, it is the oldest building in all the Otherland. The Akadan nomads occasionally used the keep for shelter when passing by, but beyond that it was left alone for some time, which allowed it to fall into a state of disrepair. When Akadan finally decided to settle, they first came to the old keep, examining how it was made and trying to recover some of the lost knowledge of working stone. They were successful, to a degree. Their new buildings could never quite look the same as the old keep, no matter how hard they tried. After using their newly learned craft to build towns, they build watchtowers on what they claimed as their borders, then finally they returned and tried to repair it. The stone that they placed was mismatched with the old stone, but that was overlooked as it was rebuilt. This large keep was the army's headquarters, where men were assigned to garrisons and patrols, until Akadan fell to Daedalia.
3. The new stonemasons returning front the old keep immediately set to work, opening a quarry nearby to get at the stone easier. This knowledge of working stone allowed Akadan an advantage when the lands were being settled, as the source that most of the lands began to use was wood. When the town was finally complete, the first king looked on and smiled, and declared that he would rule the land from here. A hall was built for the king, all in simple stone, for the Akadans want of effectiveness rather than extravagance.Each successive king had the capital built further out, knocking down the old wall and reusing the stone to help build a new wall.
Caehid:
- Map:
Black(Plot Points):
Hiest: A village, fairly large among the other villages in Caehid, though it still only has one street. This town was the site of a battle where soldiers of Caehid and the group of companions joined forces to expel the bandits who had taken over the town. The battle was hard fought, but eventually won, allowing the group to travel to Camtaer in the company of Guards.
The Darkling woods: A site of intense superstition and suspicion for the people of Caehid. Over time, disappearances have led to the creation of a belief that if one sets foot in these woods after dark, they will not come out. This lead to the forest paths neglect, causing it to become all the more dangerous at daytime, when previously no creatures wandered near these paths. Minotaurs and Satyrs took over, and often slayed those brave enough, foolish enough, or desperate enough to venture down this path. The group of companions took this path, acknowledging the necessity for speed, whatever the costs. This choice revealed itself to be a terrible one, after all of the soldiers and one of the companions lay dead, they finally found their way put. The group of companions did however, do some good for their sacrifice, uncovering the source of these myths as a coven of long dead summoners, whose creations had run amuck throughout the forest, growing empowered with the setting of the sun. The altar that had been continually forming shadow into these creatures was destroyed at great sacrifice, but now the roads are safe to travel again, apart from the common beasts brought about through misuse.
Camp: Shortly after escaping the woods, a new man found the companions, seeking protection, or perhaps a place to hide from the guards pursuing him. The companions want nothing to do with the criminal, but the guards fail to acknowledge this and attack the man's "gang". Just as the battle begun, Migelo, the ranger slipped off into the night, planning to return to his forest and denying his potential. The companions did not know what to do with the man during the fight, and managed to trap him, only afterwards allowing his to accompany them into the city.
Camtaer: The great city of Camtaer, famed for its great market, and grand palace, was where the companions stopped next. The man, Nezak, found a replacement for Migelo, in his friend, Amina.
They then continued on the the market, engaging in the feverish buying and selling of the place, said to only be rivaled by the markets of Daedalia. The companions continued on to the palace and were given a grand welcome, along with rooms to stay and thanks from the emperor himself in honor of their journey and the risks they had taken to deliver the message of war. This mood changed when a guard who survived and fled the attack on the companions camp returned and notified the emperor of the companions criminal activity, swiftly jailed them. There the companions remained until the court wizard, a man only ash had briefly encountered before as Migelo's master, freed them and gave them an escort in Ragnar. Ragnar was a mercenary of great renown, and a good friend to the court wizard, whose skill was a great boon to the companions.
Milon Forest: The companions had managed to travel across the plains surrounding Camtaer and escape into Milon forest. Long ago,the emperor of Caehid attempted to take control of the forest, but moving the army in only served to get more men killed. Instead, this emperor had his soldiers through torches into the forest to burn it down. This emperor did not think they would attempt to put the fires out, and soon after, in revenge the goblins and gnomes started killing any guards close enough from under the cover of the forest, with more joining every moment. This attack was a disaster, and since then the forest has been treated with even more fear than the darkling woods
White(Other locations):
1.The Ile Plains: The Ile Plains are bereft of life, due to ancient skirmishes from the tribal era when men from the desert would emerge and descend upon villages. Though the nations are engaged in a time of relative peace with each other, no towns have been built since, as much the peasants decision as the emperors.

OH. MY. GOD. Your maps are amazing! Take a small peak at my map (Think it was in my rolling-thread, around page 10-20 in a roll) What did you use to make it? Don't tell me you draw it by hand? It is AWESOME! Keep the good work up!
Only improvement I can see is to type the names of castles and countries.

Honestly, I thought it was made using GIMP, using OpenGameArt.Org sprites for castles.
Surely not worth those 50 bucks.

Ah. Beautiful. Darien catches virus, and break takes EVEN LONGER, cuz he needs to reinstall his system.
GOOD IDEA, 8680!
Alright, but seriously,I (personally) admit piracy, with whole my heart and so on. (And yes, that's stealing, but stealing from someone I don't know or care about )
I AM OBVIOUSLY JOKING. PIRACY IS EVIL, KIDS! ITS BAAD FOR YOUR TEETH OR SOMETHING.

- Spoiler:
- I mean, someone asks 50 bucks for DRESSUP GAME?! (They call it "Professional Character Generator". LULZ.) Only software there they NEEDED to work on, and which functionality CAN'T be easily replaced with Gimp/Blender (that Dioram thingy....) was that sci-fi sumthin, with 3D galaxy maps. The rest?

So not just piracy, but pointless piracy? And if you need some software you can't afford, just write your own! Is it really that difficult? I taught myself C++ in under a week!Shinobody wrote:I mean, someone asks 50 bucks for DRESSUP GAME?! (They call it "Professional Character Generator". LULZ.) But... that would mean... where Darien lives... the computers are biological!Shinobody wrote:He caught flu! 8680, LOOK WHAT YOU DID!
edit : Please, nobody reply to this. My copy-prudishness has already caused over two pages of off-topicness on Darien's other thread, and I don't want it to be thought that I'm intentionally targeting Darien's threads for derailment.
