Its_Crunchtime's GM application
Edited with more detail.
[Game Ideas]
Actually, it would be set in the same world a book I'm working on is in (still in notes stage), and I figure this might be a cool way to build up a bit of history.
The three of you (if I get more people immediately, then the number will be increased, but only the first to come are family members) are just simple farmers, tending to the land together ever since your father died in a raid and your mother ran away when the eldest of you was 19. But then one day, war is declared on your nation, Ulond, by the humanoids living in Orxalain, the goblinkind-only nation to your north, and, two days later, you are conscripted into the army.(More in-depth prologue if I get endorsed)
From there, it's your choice what to do. The game starts when you are all just taken off your farm, and on the road to Masandri, Ulond's capital, where your training will take place.
But you don't have to stay in the army. Run away, or atleast try. Be careful... if you don't get away, you will be tried, and most likely hung. Or worse, condemned to The Pit. Stick with the army. Rise through the ranks. Take a ship to another country, if your silver tongue gets you out of the army. It's pretty much a freeform R2D, though, it will have an ending to it.
Eventually.
Gameplay Mechanics: Rolls would be with a d6, and for combat both you and any opponents roll a dice that's determined by what abilities, aptitudes, or items you have.
ex) Jack would roll a d8 in battle because he has a sword that gives him +2 to any attacks he makes.
Any armor would reduce an opponents roll instead of increasing yours.
Any penalties will reduce the roll you do.
ex) Jack has a broken right arm, so he has to switch to his left. He gets a -2 penalty if he uses his broken arm, a -1 to all rolls from pain, and a -1 to his sword actions becuase he is right-handed. If Jack rolls a 8 and does not use his broken arm, then his total would be 6.
You cannot learn magic until you are tested. If you succeed in the test, you have the ability. Congratulations! You must have someone more skilled in magic than you teach you how to use it, however. This is not a world where you learn by stating "I learn how to create fire." You must have a teacher show you how.
...Unless your about to die and your only choice is to try and pull something crazy out of thin air. Careful, though: You get a penalty on the roll if you do this.
To train in other skills, you can just state, "I train my sword skills!", but it's more effective if you have someone more skilled to help you. It can be another player, or an NPC.
To keep me from having to spend hours to type up a personalized roll for each person, if you want to do something drastic, you must all vote on what to do, and the action with th most number of votes behind it is the one that I will use.
Hopefully that clears some things up. To be honest, I was saving details such as these for if it was actually endorsed, and they would go in the actual game thread.
[Why you want to be a GM]
I think it would be fun! Plus, it would improve my writing skills, and provide my book with some recent-history.
[What style will your game be?]
Fantasy. If you don't like completely made up creatures, vegetation, and other crap, including magic, you won't like this.
[How often do you get on?]
Every day for at least a few minutes, though it's generally later on in the day, around 10:00PM or so. (Pacific Standard Time)
What do you guys think?

Re: Its_Crunchtime's GM application
Could you describe Gameplay and Mechanics?
Gameplay - basically, how combat, magic, skills, or the 'cool stuff' of the game works. You don't have to put this in, but it doubles as both an outline for your plans AND a handy advertisement for your R2D.
Mechanics - how the rolls will work. d6, d10, d20, penalties, bonuses, actions.
Can the players be separated from each other? It'd be rather hard if one player decided to stick with the army while the others went off on a wild adventure.
It seems interesting enough, but it's hard to tell at this state.

More detail before I give my thumbs up. Good luck with your book. (funnily enough, I'm also writing a book. About what? WWII of course).

Re: Its_Crunchtime's GM application
Yeah, its kind of annoying that you have to put details into your application that you'd rather save for the game itself, but detail is one of the most important writing (and GMing) qualities.

Re: Its_Crunchtime's GM application
Frogger - the whole point of putting details is to:
A. Attract people to the game.
B. Ensure that it won't be a stupid and watered-down game made by an incompetent GM.

Re: Its_Crunchtime's GM application
I misunderstood, then. You said it was annoying putting it in an application, so I stated the reasons that it's necessary. Sorry.
Now enough random posting in here unless you're going to give the game a positive vote.
