Aeinorean Chronicles - Dawn of Chaos
Aeinorean Chronicles
What Players Need to Know:
A certain level of familiarity with the Pathfinder RPG system may increase your enjoyment of this game. I encourage you to read as much or as little as you desire at http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/, beginning with the Core Rulebook. Of course, you can always simply trust your GM and ask questions!
- The Game Experience:
- The Aeinorean Chronicles is a High-Fantasy game in a medieval period roughly equivalent to the European Renaissance of the 14th-17th centuries.
Characters will be granted Experience Points for each Encounter successfully completed; each Encounter will be worth a certain number of Experience points to be split evenly between all PCs present. Encounters will not always be violent combat; the term Encounter includes Puzzles, Traps, Diplomacy, Investigations, Natural Hazards, and (yes) Combat.
Success or Failure in almost every Encounter will rely primarilly on d20 rolls modified by character Ability scores and Skills (Skills are further modified by Ability scores).
Experience Points will be rewarded immediately upon the completion of an Encounter. You must be present throughout the duration of an Encounter to earn Experience Points. That is to say, if you're in an excused absence and NPC'd for the Encounter then you will not earn XP for said Encounter. Once your character has earned enough experience points to reach the next Character Level, you may level your character up at your leisure; play will continue with your character at present level until your Character Advancement is submitted to (and approved by) me. I highly recommend you read the page linked here before your first Character Advancement; it will help you prepare for your character's development throughout your journey through Aeinor.
- Mechanics:
- This game will operate with the rules of the Pathfinder RPG, by Paizo. Success in actions will be determined by rolling d20 (modified by abilities and skills). It must meet or exceed the Difficulty Class (a numeric value representing the relative difficulty of the action) or the Armor Class (a numeric value representing how difficult it is to land a solid, damaging blow on an opponent).
Money is the customary platinum/gold/silver/copper system with 10 of the lesser denominations equal to 1 of the next greater denomination.
A round of combat represents 6 seconds in the game world. (Therefore, effects that last "one minute" lasts for ten rounds. Combat will be cyclical with each player character and NPC able to do 2 actions per round. Typically, either 2 move actions, 2 standard actions or 1 of each. The exception would be if they choose to do a Full-Round action. Such an action is "constant", lasting until the beginning of their next turn. Such actions would include Full-Attack actions (granting multiple attacks per round, depending on their Base Attack Bonus), or maintaining a Bardic Performance to assist allies or hinder enemies. Those interested in learning the full mechanics of combat may read the Combat Page.
- Game Setting:
- Social, economic, political, and technological reform is on the horizon. More importantly, everyone knows it. Indeed, some would say the cultural revolution is in full-swing. Scholars in the great raynar metropolis of Abragado-Rae are calling it The Progression, and people from all corners of the world are flocking to the city for a chance to take something new back home... or perhaps start a new life entirely. Play begins with the character's freshly arrived at the city of Abragado-Rae and relaxing after their travels at the Green Trousers Tavern. Little do they know that their future actions could very well spell salvation or doom for city the in which they seek their fortune and quite possibly the world at large...
- World Setting:
- The six civilized races of Aeinor live in (relative) peace and prosperity.
Each of the races have their own traditions, beliefs, and racial territories (with the exception of the Reiherri, who live symbiotically in the Wilds within the borders of all the land). Mutually dependant upon each other for trade and protection, the races generally have got along. The occasional disagreement and war may have arisen, but eventually mutual need (and the threat of invasion from without) have prompted the diplomats of all the races to forge a peace accord.
Humanity is the dominant race on the planet. The largest and most powerful human nation is the Kingdom of Aeinor. Humanity at its finest (and it's worst), Aeinor is a feudal society centrally located in the realm. While the majority of the population in the Kingdom is Human, all the civilized races are represented and call the land home. The Aeinorean Royal Legion (ARL) is the largest single military presence on the Continent, and it is primarily through it's mere existance that the goblins, orcs, shrykul, jackals, gnolls, giants, and so forth have not conquered any of the civilized races. Threat of force is something that even an unintelligent giant can understand, and the presence of the ARL deters any truly ambitious endeavours on their part.
The Kingdom of Aeinor is by no means the only human power in the land, however. There are numerous other nations, though none as powerful as Aeinor, each one with it's own distinct customs and beliefs. Perhaps the furthest one could come from Aeinor in terms of lifestyle is their immediate neighbor, Sorpath. Where Aeinor is a feudal patriarchy, Sorpath is agrarian. Few Sorpathans amount to much more in their lives than raising enough food to last them through the next winter. This task is made more difficult by the shrykul raids along the eastern border and the roving jackal bands in the west. Despite the raids, few enterprising families along major trade routes grow enough to sell, and as such Sorpath is slowly turning into a more prosperous nation. Unfortunately that also means attracting the raiders further north, where the ARL may soon be forced into action.
While Humanity is the dominant race on the planet, the Raynar are arguably the most influential. Their capital city, the great metropolis Abragado-Rae, is larger even than the Kingdom of Aeinor's glorious Crown City. Situated in a large pass between two mountain ranges. The city is ideally located to serve as a trade hub between Aeinor and its far western neighbors. The only other option beyond traveling through the city is to make a detour north around the mountain range through the Mishkan desert, a treacherous journey that few can afford to make. If a week of travel through the desert doesn't kill travelers, shrykul raiders likely would. Only the hardiest and most desperate of travelers would opt for the desert route.
The Valcii live in relative isolation in the deep tundra or desert. Their most sizable settlement is Ghrish'na'a, an Eyrie in the Mishkan desert. Ghrish'na'a was built around a natural oasis. The centerpoint of Ghrish'na'a is called the Grand Creche, the children of the city spend their days here learning everything they need to know to contribute to the society when they reach maturity. Since it was built around the oasis, this is the one exception to the typical Valciin architecture. It's not built to an exact circle. Instead, the Grand Creche is shaped roughly like three circles joined in a triangle. The rest of Grish'na'a is built in a style typical of Valciin construction: concentric rings, with large walls dividing the layers. As the city grows, new walls are added, increasing the footprint and security of the core.
The Hannoth live in Cannor's Cauldron, a large mountain range east of Aeinor.
Canith live in a forested region north of Aeinor.
Should you choose to join the Aeinorean Chronicles, refer to the "Character Development" post in my GM Application.
In addition to the character sheet, I also highly encourage a character Biography. Think about your character's appearance and their background. Life experiences, family, friends, enemies. What hobbies do they have in their spare time? Perhaps throwing back a brewski at the local tavern with total strangers. Or maybe the go bird watching. Or maybe they paint. Flesh them out a little, and they'll become more real to you. Plus, the more I know about your characters, the more I can create a game that involves them. After, an advernturer is far more invested in rescuing the damsel in distress (or other such missions) when the damsel in distress is Little Sister!

Character Biography
Marcus was born to a lower class family. His father was a weapon smith and he was in line as first born to follow in his father's foot steps. A threat to the Canith required a draft of all able bodied citizens to be soldiers in the empire's army. Marcus was the only one old enough and capable in his family to serve. Through his time in the military Marcus proved himself several times for his valor and dedication to the males that he served with. He proved himself a capable warrior, and an inspiring soldier and he was granted opportunities to raise his rank and status. Marcus's love and dedication to the empire inspired loyalty and support from many, but it also provoked the ire of members of the upper class who were not happy with Marcus' current path that would lead to an inevitable rise in power.
The malicious members of the upper class could find no way to corrupt Marcus, or sully his good name. So they targeted his family instead. His younger brother was manipulated into unknowingly participating in treasonist activites against the empire. When Marcus' brother came to him in distress, his initial loyalties to the empire were tested vs his extreme loyalties to his family. Marcus believed his brother's sincerity and couldn't stand to let his brother be falsely accused. He opted to take the fall for him in an effort to save him and his family. In response to the treasonist activities, Marcus was slated to be killed. Fortunately for him, he had allies in the upper class that managed to pull strings enough to get his sentence reduced to exile from the empire.
His existance has been removed from his race, he is supposed to be considered dead to his family and his fiance. Canith everywhere that recognize him are now supposed to shun him as par the old laws. His brother was spared but he now has to suffer something that the Canith would consider potentially worse than death. Isolation. He now struggles to deal with what can be considered culture shock, as the Canith empire is the only thing he has really known.
Out of respect for his racial traditions, Marcus lost rights to his family name, and now goes by Worfang based on observations from people he has encountered. - Line Fighter: Receives Combat Reflexes as a bonus Feat at first level.
- Raspin (Saima):

- Tensions: Humans and Reiherri have tense relations stemming from the Reiherri belief that Humanity's industrial development is costly for the ecology. Social rolls between the races are taken at +2 DC.

Character Biography
Raspin grew up as a prodigy in his tribe. While most of children were playing around with speech, he was already dabbling in the occult. The elders looked upon him as a gift to the tribe, but he was ostracized by his peers. Raspin quickly advanced his magical skills to the point where he was more of an oddity than a person in the eyes of his tribe. At the age of 15, he ran away from all that he knew, trekking to a nearby Raynar city. They took in Raspin as one of their own, nurturing both his damaged heart and his swelling mind.
By 18, Raspin was a full-fleged Summoner. The Raynar had taught him well, but they could teach him no more. He set off once again, now with the goal of using his powers to help the world. Where his adventures will take him, nobody knows. - Dark Vision: Raspin can see in the dark to a distance of 60 feet.

Ok, that does it! If you wish to join, let me know your Race and Class below. I'll work with you to make your characters and your character sheet will be added to the bottom of the OP. Once we have four players the game will start; once the wait list has four players, I'll start a second game.

Sign me up! I'll be playing as a Reiherri Summoner named Raspin Hongu(if upholding the Reiherri lore is important, I'll grab a different name upon request). Hooray for the game finally coming into existance!

Re: Aeinorean Chronicles - Dawn of Chaos
Dude! I see that you put a LOT of work in there! It'll probably be one of the greater games here, you will get far! I would love to play it, but I won't for some reasons:
I am pretty busy, and this would need a lot of attention (As it's advanced)
I'm not really wanting to read that Wall Of Text :/
I wanna save a spot for a new player so the new player can feel some REAL roleplaying
Good luck with your game! Just beware, it'll take loads of attention...

Re: Aeinorean Chronicles - Dawn of Chaos
Saima: Raspin Hongu actually works quite well as a Reiherri!
Foolish: it'll require attention creating a character, but after that no more attention than any other game. All the detailed parts I handle myself. I'll even create the character FOR you if you just me me know what role you want to play in a party.
As for a lot of effort on my part? I've been DMing for over two decades... I ain'ta 'fraid o' no game!

As the Reiherri creator, I say the name is acceptable. Although they do not have last names as a race

I'm fine with just being Raspin ^_^ Whatever you think works better with the lore.

Um, no, I didn't remember that.... In that case, I'll certainly join. (Unless there's a reason I shouldn't, but the standard leaving room for new players would appear to be invalid.)Rulyon wrote:Remember, once the waiting list fills up, the second game will start.. and so on and so forth.

Re: Aeinorean Chronicles - Dawn of Chaos
My mistake, it was supposed to read more akin the lines of "Just so you know, I'll start a second once it fills up, so keep that in mind". Go ahead and start a character, 8680. There's plenty of Rulyon to go around.

That's what I read it as. If I sounded offended, I didn't mean to. Also, you didn't list your races' favored classes.Rulyon wrote:My mistake, it was supposed to read more akin the lines of "Just so you know, I'll start a second once it fills up, so keep that in mind".

Hmmm, I did miss that, didn't I? I'll have to determine them (and the associated bonuses) tonight. Will update when I'm off of work.

I'll take the next spot on the waiting list... I believe the game is full?

Re: Aeinorean Chronicles - Dawn of Chaos
Some questions, for when you have the time:
- Do you allow deity-less clerics?
- Would you allow a paladin/ranger to take a domain (as with the druid's nature bond) for their divine/hunter's bond? (With the domain list suitably adjusted for paladins, exempli gratia Glory, Good, Healing, Law, Nobility, Protection, Sun.)

Re: Aeinorean Chronicles - Dawn of Chaos
Yes to both questions. Paladins and Clerics can dedicate themselves to concepts they find worthy in place of a deity. Some examples include Knowledge, Protection, and Warfare. Clerics (who can be evil and chaotic) can further devote themselves to concepts such as Trickery, Death, Famine, and Disease.

Re: Aeinorean Chronicles - Dawn of Chaos
What do you consider "legitimate authority" in the paladin's code?

Re: Aeinorean Chronicles - Dawn of Chaos
I'm not certain I follow your question correctly, but if this is what you mean, then:
Legitimate authority in a paladin's code include governments that serve the people (as opposed to self-serving corrupt governments) as well as traditionally instilled rulers. A King from an established royal line, legitimately elected rulers, chieftains in barbarian tribes that ascended through their culture's tradition of "if you challenge the Chieftain to mortal combat and win, you're the new head honcho."
Illegitimate authority would include corrupt rulers that create laws serving themselves at the expense of their subjects, "posers" to the throne (like Prince John of the "Robin Hood" ilk, who wasn't truly next in line, but sat on the throne and used up the power in his brother's absence), "diplomatically elected" officials that rigged the election, or a Barbarian chieftain who ascended to the throne by killing his predecessor in his sleep.
Is this the question you were asking?
Also, I'm about to go to bed, I have work in 7 hours. I'll post the Racial Favored Classes tomorrow.

Re: Aeinorean Chronicles - Dawn of Chaos
Stealthy class is rogue. You should generate your ability scores. Though one possible combination if it seems too complicated for you is 16, 14, 14, 12, 12, 11. If you're going to go rogue I reccomend high scores in Dexterity and Intelligence, with a secondary focus on Strength if you want to deal damage or Charisma if you want to be deceptive (with disguise, Bluff, and the like).
I'm about to leave for work. I'll help you with the rest of your character generation then. What kind of "stealthy" character are you wanting to play?
